The newest in our fleet of apparatus, the rescue ambulances were purchased in 2014 and put into service as part of our department wide reorganization plan.

The rescue ambulances are staffed with two firefighter/paramedics who are required to be proficient in paramedic skills while maintaining a high level of expertise as firefighters. The rescue ambulances are stocked with everything needed to handle everything from a basic medical call to traffic accident with multiple victims requiring advanced care.

The rescue ambulances have been equipped with a state-of-the-art mobile communications terminal that includes a mapping feature to help determine the most efficient route to an address. The Code 3 lights are the latest in technology, which provides for a more visible apparatus, thus ensuring the safety of the community and the firefighter/paramedics that drive them.

The rescue ambulances not only respond to medical emergencies and traffic accidents but are also known as “all risk,” meaning they respond on all types of incidents, including structure fires, specialized rescues, and hazardous materials spills.

Additionally, we have the capability to transport victims should there be exigent circumstances; however, we use Care Ambulance Service for the majority of transports, which has proven to be a successful public-private partnership.
