The Committee meets monthly except for August and December and consists of seven (7) regular members. Members serve for a two-year term. The Committee shall meet every other month on the fourth Wednesday of the month, at 5:30 pm at City Hall in the Community Room. The Committee shall comply with the Brown Act and the Fair Political Practices Act.

The purpose of the Animal Services Committee (ASC) is to provide advice and recommendations to the City Council on animal services issues and to promote pet licensing, assist with planning and execution of animal-related events (e.g., Barktoberfest). In addition, the purpose of the Animal Services Committee is to maintain, educate, enrich, and promote animal services programs and resources throughout the City, and to monitor the animal care and control function of the City (e.g., live release rates, adoption, veterinary care, fostering, pet licensing) and advise the City Council of any issues that should be addressed. 

The goals of the Committee are to promote pet licensing within the City, assist with planning of animal related events, and to explore and provide recommendations to improve animal services.
