LOST PETS

We highly recommend lost pet owners to review these steps.

1. Contact shelter services at Priceless Pet Rescue and place a lost pet report. You can also leave a poster or photo of your lost pet. (Original photos cannot always be returned). Do not depend solely on tags or microchips.

2.  View some of our found pets at Impounded Animals

3. Found pets by Animal Control Officers stray or release by finders are taken to Priceless Pet Rescue.

4. If you dog was found wearing a current Costa Mesa License, or identification tag attempts will be made to contact you by phone and mail. Please, if your owner information is now accurate with the microchip company, contact the microchip company and update the information immediately. Keep in mind found pets are sometimes scared and difficult for shelter personnel to immediately read tags, scan for microchips, or photograph for the lost pet website.

5. If your pet has a microchip or any other type of owner information, that is accurate, you will be contacted.

6. It is not uncommon for pets to stray for miles and sometimes found in other cities. During your search contact adjacent shelters. Also contact local veterinarians in your area. Your pet may have been taken to a veterinarian by a local neighbor who did not recognized your pet.

7. Never depend solely on tags on collars. They can easily be removed or lost, or you may have just forgotten they were not on your pet. Microchips can also have wrong information or may have never been registered. Please recheck the information is accurate or registered. The microchip companies also maintain a lost and found report system. If it is a City or County License Tag, please update the information with the issuing agency.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO LICENSE, MICROCHIP AND TAG YOUR PETS!
