Costa Mesa is home to the Los Angeles Chargers team headquarters and annual training camp. However, the 2020 Chargers Training Camp is closed to the public due to COVID-19 restrictions. 

The City and the Chargers signed a 10-year use agreement to allow the Chargers to practice at the Jack Hammett Sports Complex during the NFL team’s training camp each summer beginning in 2017.
